* smtp definitely works for receiving (i have been using it for my personal email for months)
* smtp might work for outgoing, i haven't tested it as much
* imap doesn't currently work

* command-line interface for admin tasks (setting up auth etc)
* in-band auth management (like nickserv)

* set reverse dns
